ABOUT READINGS IN OTHER LANGUAGES
St John's has a diverse congregation. Languages in worship demonstrate our desire to be welcoming, supportive and interested in people from different cultures, especially the cultures of people who are part of our community. We have a weekly reading in French and a monthly reading from the First Nations Translation. In past months, we have had readings in Swahili, Arabic, Kinyarwanda, Kirundi, Luganda, and Spanish. On Epiphany Sunday, as we retell about the wise men who came from “the east” this is echoed with a language from the east - a reading in Mandarin. Our Sunday bulletin (program) includes the reading in English side-by-side with the language reading.
